Welcome to Options Barton School and Children’s Home.
Options Barton School and Children’s Home provide Specialist Education, Care and Therapy for children and young people with Autism and associated complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
Our children, who are aged between 8 and 19 years, come to study and live with us from all over the country and are all unique, having a wide range of individual needs and different ways of communication to express themselves.
They all share the common goals of wanting to be more independent, able to make choices, able to find ways to manage their anxieties and to make sense of the world around them. They all have ambitions and dreams and our Curriculum and Care packages reflect our personalised approach in ensuring all children who come to us are listened to and have the appropriate specialist care and education to thrive and be happy.
Our staff are fully committed to our children; they are specialist trained in excellent Autism Practice to be able to understand and support every child and their skills and empathy are highly praised by parents and carers, as well as by the Local Authorities we work with.
Our Clinical Team support both children and staff in ensuring all our autism practice is based upon up to date clinical assessment. With access to Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and support from our Psychology team, our children receive regular reviews and our staff receive regular updates to training and tools to work at the most effective level.
Our facilities on site include a therapy pool, a sports hall, a sensory garden and an adventure playground all on the edge of the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds as well as in easy reach of local beaches and riverside walks.
Children access the community to build on their independent living skills and to learn work related transferable skills as well as develop their social skills and academic accreditation where it is appropriate. Students have weekly offsite activities to develop social skills, independence, life skills and communication. These include local walks, shopping, bowling, swimming, gym, cafes and restaurants, leisure centres and The Deep. Many of our children go onto to access supported Adult living, studying at college courses or returning home able to contribute more fully to their local communities and their family.
